I'd be amazed if the drug industry was pushing this bill. If they are, it's run by morons.

Now with these bogus GOP drug plans the US taxpayers are going to have to subsidize the drug industry and its worldwide market share grab.

Direct to consumer advertising has had IMO adverse results, higher demand for drugs (needed or not), higher costs for drugs (ads and research subsidized by US consumer, what a surprise), pressure on doctors to prescribe (promotion as cutting edge etc.) reliance on drugs rather than preventive medicine. There's only so much cost benefit in drugs, lots more in preventive services and education. But maybe we just can't say NO?

In some respects it really seems little different from illicit drug promotions.

Now Europe is considering allowing Direct to consumer ads for 3 drug situation. Good luck!
