What makes you think we are saving innocent lives?

The mass graves in Iraq and Afghanistan. The torture and rape victims in Iraq and Afghanistan. 3000 dead in NYC.

<What makes you think we are saving innocent lives?>

The War Party gets a warm and fuzzy feeling about themselves, when they tell each other they are Bearing The White Man's Burden. Bringing the light of civilization to the savages.

Has Al Qaeda managed another September 11th-style attack? Do you think they meant to stop with just one? That's not what they say, they keep predicting big attacks. They predicted one last July. They predicted one on Christmas. Now they say

“Al Qaeda: We will destroy New York within 35 days. Threat on the Internet. Countdown begins.”

Since the one inescapable fact is that they did do September 11th, a huge operation that took five years to plan, I think you have to credit the total absence of a credible folllowup as "saving innocent lives" on the part of those agencies that stopped it.
