Terrorism is the worst abuse of power there is, but you have conveniently ignored Saddam's terrorism and murder of his own people, and rail against GWB supposed abuses, because it serves your purpose.

You guys keep hinting at association between Saddam and 9/11, which is what Americans think of when you say terrorism.

Look, if you put Iraq in the context of terrorism, you immediately associate it with alqueada....rove, bush, powell, rice, they all knew that and played the PR card. It's no accident that many Americans believe that the two are connected. and even a majority believe that saddam was involved with 9/11. That's what I meant. Terror is the worst abuse of power, agreed. But what does that have to do with Iraq and the US unless you are suggesting that iraq supports alqueda. So the only conclusion I can reach is that you are tangentially trying to associate the two. That's my point.

If Bill truly believed there were WMD in Iraq, why is it so hard to believe GWB also believed there were.

Clinton and Bush both may have believed that Saddam still had weapons...but it was bush who deceived the country to war when saddam had in fact opened his country to unfettered inspections. It was bush who rushed through a war against the wishes of the security council at a time when inspectors were making good progress in iraq. It was bush who deceived the nation when for almost a year he said at every occasion that war was his last resort, when in fact he had decided to attack early in 2000. What kind of dishonest SOB is he?

By the way, what you have backwards is the desire of the UN to lessen sanctions and the US adamantly refusing to agree. You have said that France/Germany/Russia were for tough sanctions...this is not so. It was the US that played the role of the hawk on sanctions. It was the US who instituted the no flys after the kurd and shia uprisings, which bush sr instigated and which led to a crackdown.

Lots of people believed there were. I believed there were.

Seems though now, that we were all wrong.

This is to be blamed on intelligence incompetence, no?
