I was a pretty apathetic, unlabeled sometime voter. I became, however, aghast at what was happening to the country after 911. Couple fear/ubernationalism and the RNC/Neocon alliance taking advantage of events to garner power and money and you have....Shrub.

I'm quite cynical about all politicians (they are just people with excess ambition and testosterone) but Shrub takes the cake. I'd even taken Bush 41 back!

didn't you live overseas somewhere? Are you registered to vote? In what state, can I ask?

Arnold Schwarzenegger ran as a fiscally moderate conservative who is socially liberal and won in a landslide. Candidates like Arnold, and McCain is one, that run on a common sense platform can win easily if they get over the primary extremist problem. Arnold won because we didn't have a primary, it was a recall.

"...even though I am registered as a democrat I consider myself to be a middle of the road republican."

If true, sounds like you might have an identity crisis.

Have you heard that the dems and Kerry have an all-out internet campaign planned for this spring, where people on bb's like SI, professing to be lifelong Republicans, will lambast Bush and voice their "switch" to Kerry?

I think it's already started.

Shit: nobody really knew what was coming down in '00 -- except the massive losses in IRA accounts.

As you recall, I'm sure, Gore won.

We certainly know now what "came down."
