Yes. You are correct that the danger of contacting AIDS (in the US) is signigicantly higher for gay sex than hetero sex. And you are correct that the left wingers like to spin the medical and social disease associated with promiscuous hetero sex, any time you try to bring up the dangerous AIDs epidemic. However, the right wing has its own spins. Alcohol is the biggest date rape drug ever invented but the right wing is all about 'illicit' drugs. Promiscuous sex among hetero sexuals has caused the collapse of our family values based culture, but all we can talk about is 'those' people having gay sex. If Heteros would stand up and take responsibility for the principles of living we know are righteous, the gay community would be a minor to non-concern. As it is, we are focused so hard on what is wrong with 'those' people that we are excusing our own conduct instead of standing up as models of decency. Our children see the hypocrisy and so relax their own standards in reaction to our over reaction to other people's conduct and lack of responsibility for our own. If you are a kid who is the product of a broken home where you are struggling with hell-acious conditions and the effeminant kid who everybody picks on at school is the only gentle and considerate person in your life ... what then?

I read last year about group homosexual orgies where at least one of the players would have AIDS. No protection was used. Who would get AIDS, kind of like pin the tail on the donkey. Having AIDS or at least the risk of having AIDS is now thought to be part of the homosexual experience, kind of like a woman giving birth and raising kids to have the woman experience. New drugs can now keep these homos alive, probably almost as long as if they hadn't been infected, but WE pay the cost.
