Marriage does not produce offspring, sex does. There are plenty of human societies not to mention animals where the father plays no role after the sex act. Often the father never knows or sees its offspring. In non-mammals sometimes neither parent knows the child. Humans produce more children than they do families willing to nurture and raise them. Having non-procreational families willing to raise these unwanted progeny of the sex act can easily be seen as a good strategy for the survival of our species. So your appeal to biology fails. I do not wish to be forced to acknowledge and support what is patently non-human. I think there in lies the real aversion to same sex marriage. The fact that we might be forced to support through spousal benefit the same rights that heterosexual marriages are due. That might be the defining difference between those than can accept gay marriage and those that cannot. Those that don't, would not want to support it financially. That's fair enough. Allow gay marriage, or civil union, but exclude any spousal benefits. Would that make you happy? Apparently: I sincerely do not care if they wish to marry. I only care about being forced by law to recognize it in any way. It has no part of me (or you or any other human) at all and so I ought not be forced to support it. And now you allow for more than one god. Helps explain the parts of the world that are disagreeable to you: Hmmm. I think this god is an utter abomination. Yes. Quite an utter abomination, hardly anything I can respect. In fact, I am persuaded he is false, or, more likely, the devil. Are you saying that god had no part of creating the gay individuals in the world? No one is trying to force me into thinking this crap is normal. We all agree that these things are defects. What about someone that rigidly opposes anything or anyone that is different, or defective as you put it. Is your god supportive of that kind of hatred and indifference? Clearly there are people that exhibit gay behavior that fall into different categories. There are people that are created gay. For example a man that is geneticly disposed to exhibit feminine traits at a very young age. Clearly this is not learned behavior. Then of course there are gay people that do it simply to be rebellious, who's sexual orientation may not be gay, but those individuals that wish to be naughty as it were. And between these two there are variants on the theme. Just as there is no actual brunette hair color, or blond hair color but an infinite number of shades. I guess your god never creates any defect. He's perfect. So perfect that he created you to be the vanguard of his vanity, and to extinguish, revile, impound and eliminate any such individual which somehow has arrived here on earth and is not up to your standard. What a good and thoughtful god you have. Orca
