Eric,

re: The cost of the equipment would have to come down to less then $2000 before I'd consider installing something that would potentially save me $400 or less per year.

What if you got a $1000 per year tax credit? And if the administration was calling you to do it as a patriotic duty?

John

re:Did you compute that on the $34k he paid, or the $17k estimate presented in the article for the average user? Remember this guy has a mini mansion in Bellevue.

On the 34K, so I could recoup in 35 years but my house is a good 400 sq ft bigger. <g>

Foolish me, I should have checked the sq. footage before making that statement........mini mansion @ 2800 sf??? The writer of the article must have grown up in an apt. As for you, you're a big ole braggard! <g>

The cost of the equipment would have to come down to less then $2000 before I'd consider installing something that would potentially save me $400 or less per year.

Why? At 2k, you would recoup your cost within 5 years....probably sooner given the way rates are going.

re:I said I would like to see more focus on alternative energy sources.

Bush said something about alternate fuels and hyrdogen research last year I think - wonder where that money went and to whom?

Bush's reelection campaign? <g>
