Ted Re...Oh, I don't think they're kooks and hypocrites. They are exactly as you describe.......strong willed people with strong opinions. They are the people who put the "under God" in the pledge; who want the ten commandments posted in public buildings; who believe separation of church and state
is wrong; who think abortions are an abomination; who condemn violence in film but condone the violence in the Passion; who call liberals unpatriotic; who complain the left is amoral; who consider the two second unveiling of JJ's breast a national travesty; who consider the invasion of Iraq God's will etc.

Since when has the girl scouts, taken upon itself, the duty to teach the children of others about homosexuality, and masturbation. Isn't that the parents job? Thats what parents object to,the intrusion on private matters, by an organization, which normally teaches girls public things. As far as the kooks part, those parents should scare the hell out of you, because they are yesterdays's soccer moms, who feel religion, and morals should be a big part of their life; and they despair how crude and vulgar society has become. Approximately 60% of Americans practice religion, and the dems won't win, with Rooney's attitude; that people who believe in religion should be mocked. Janet was just another example of Hollywood, trying to push their morals, or should I say lack of; on the rest of us. My bet, is that before long, Kerry will swear, he goes to church regularily.

Ted, an interesting poll. Bush at 46%, Kerry at 45%, and Nader at 6%:

story.news.yahoo.com

Maybe the Nader percentage is a statistical aberration, but it's still higher than I expected it to be.

who condemn violence in film but condone the violence in the Passion

I've noticed a lot of people who normally praise violent films condemning the violence in the Passion.

As for the rest of the opinions you mention about the only one I could agree with is the opinion about abortion. Certainly some liberals and unpatriotic and some on the left are amoral but the same holds true for the right. Perhaps those on the right are slightly more patriotic on the average but to call the left as a whole unpatriotic is an unjustified attack.
