I think the job market which will be decimated by the mexican immigration plan is construction. Construction in the US is a high paying blue collar job.

You would think that as all these professions get McJob'd we'd see deflation, and things would work themselves out. But in 3rd world countries there tends to be high asset prices with no labor pricing power. So housing prices could stay high, who knows.

<<wonder what Americans will do for a living in the future>>

Haven't read it yet, but saw a story in the Wash Post saying school officials are concerned about the restrictions being put on immigrant visas. Apparently, the schools are worried about being able to recruit enough teachers.

While better education is being touted as a key to America's future, we ought to find some way to improve the attractiveness of the teaching profession.

>I really wonder what Americans will do for a living in the future.

Lets say in 2020, biotech, drugs and medical devices will be the hot industries. I could envision that the Chinese and Indians will be doing most of the research. The Mexicans will be working in the factories. The Phillipinos will be handling the financials. The Europeans will be taking care of the marketing. That leaves quality assurance and actual consumption to the Americans. The retirees will be prime targets for consumption. And being test subjects will make lots of younger Americans wealthy.
