the fault lies with Aznar.
He took his country to war with less than 10% support. It was not only foreseeable, but expected, that with so little support there would be unsurmountable pressure to withdraw at the first sign of trouble.


If you're going to take that tack, then it logically follows that the fault is Bush's for twisting the arms of all these lukewarm supporters just so he could counter the claims of unilateralism. The Coalition of the Willing was just politics. (I always loved the use of the word, willing. Is there a more tepid word than "willing"?)

Let's face it. Arabs stand out like a sore thumb in the U.S. too, but we're so darn P.C. that we refuse to profile. Profiling is a statistically sound technique that any logic person would use. Not profiling is like throwing your brain out the window. I guess that's why we frisk grandmas in wheelchairs while the brown skinned guy who speaks some Arabic sounding language skates by with nary a howdie do.
