When the B2 bomber was being voted on, the cost over-runs were ridiculous, costing something like 2 billion PER PLANE. Only an idiot would believe that's worth it once the Cold War was over, or even while it was going. Some of those weapons systems votes were strictly about money and cost over-runs. Bush-cheney make it sound like it's un-patrriotic not to back every defense boondoggle that ever came down the pike.
