Yes, and only once in those 50 years have Arab states refused to sell us oil --- and that was because of our one-sided support for Israel

Yes, that would be when the Arabs, massively supplied by the Soviets, invaded Israel in the Yom Kippur war, and the US "one-sidedly" declined to sit passively and watch to see if Israel would be destroyed. You have heard of the Cold War, haven't you?

It's very easy to define everything as "one-sided" if you pay attention only to the actions of one side. That's Chomsky's favorite trick. You wouldn't be a follower of his, by any chance?

Osama declared war on us in 1998, and never mentioned the Palestinians at all until after 2001 as a kind of afterthought - he said the tragedy of Andalusia must not be repeated in Palestine. The tragedy being that some piece of land which had become Muslim (Spain) had then become Christian again.

Every since 9/11, I have thought that our policy should be to make our best effort to wipe out Al-Queda, then quietly comply with its demands, i.e., get out of Saudia Arabia and become an honest broker to the Israel/Palestinian fight.

Did you listen to Osama's remarks on Spain and Palestine? You think OBL wants the US to be an "honest broker"? The Al Qaeda notion of an honest broker is one that will help them undo the "tragedy" of having Muslim lands become un-Muslim. His demand is that Palestine, Spain, and every other part of the world become Muslim - his version of Wahabbi totalitarian-laced Muslim - and live under Sharia. If that's your notion of "honest broker", feel free to go to Saudi Arabia and join the jihad as soon as you please.

"If we took a neutral stance with respect to the Israel/Palestinian conflict, we would not have a problem"

isn’t it amazing that this seemingly clear root cause of the middle east and probably the whole world problems is absent from 99% of these discussion forums?
