The context for the "outrage" I mentioned was more political than personal. We spend hundreds of billions trying to make sure that little girl is safe at home from Al Qaeda terrorists, but we ignore the much more immediate and commonplace threats that really affect her life.

If you believe the legends, England was a real mess when Richard the Lionheart was off on the Crusades too. History has a funny way of repeating itself.

Here's some anger and outrage:

"Is it clear now for you liberals? You wanted proof that al-Qaida was connected to Iraq and now [with the beheading of American businessman Nicholas Berg], you have it.

Every day this page has leftists ripping apart the Bush administration, and yet I rarely see attacks on the real enemy, the radical Islamists. It is they who started this war. It is they who lack the courage to show their faces on TV. It is they who murdered Daniel Pearl and Nicholas Berg.

It is they who attacked the United States on 9/11, and yet liberals want to cower and run away like the French.

The enemy is not our president. It's time for you liberals to check your politics at the door and get behind this effort. Our very lives are at stake.

I don't see how hysterical emotionalism really helps matters.
