It's the least the French could do, considering the U.S.
military saved their sorry asses during WWII.

In fact, they should have shown some gratitude many mos
ago,

Have you ever heard of the War of Independence? How about
how the French saved "OUR" butts then. Have you ever heard
of the statue of Liberty? Or what about the Louisiana
Purchase? For someone who "WANTS" to be an arrogant
American, you don't know much about its history, and how
it owes a lot to the French people.

Saving the French during WWI and WWII was something
Americans "OWED" the French. They did a lot for America,
long before we lifted a finger to help them. They gave their lives and shed their blood for us, before we did the
same for them. And you demand they show gratitude??
You are the ungrateful one. Truly arrogant to the core.
No wonder the French look down their noses at us now.
The "proud American" doesn't even know her own history.

What is insulting, is that the United States has been sending U.S. troops to die for other peoples freedom for over 75 years. Thousands died in France, during WWI. Did American troops die in France, so that America could get control over some of Turkey's old Arab Territories? Did the United States send troops to Europe in the First World War, to take over Germany's African Colonies?

Did the United States fight in North Africa and France in World War II to colonize Algeria and France? Why do our French (and our other European) "friends" seem to think that they are so special, that Americans would die for their liberation and freedom, but not for the freedom of others.

Did Americans die in Korea, because they won South Korea from the Japanese, and viewed South Korea as a Territory? Did the United States send troops to Vietnam for oil, or to recolonize the country? Did American troops go to Somolia for Imperialistic reasons - to colonize Somolia? Yet suddenly, when its Iraq, it's about extending an American Empire, and colonizing Iraq for its oil.
