Aus, thanks for the link, and also your view on the D70. I'm also considering the D70, which is considerably less expensive than the E-1, but haven't made up my mind. Looking at flash cards, I notice that buy.com has the SanDisk Ultra 1GB compact flash at $148.56, with an additional $10 rebate on purchases this weekend. That seems to be the lowest price I've seen for the Ultra.

Hi Aus,

RE: Cameras,

You mentioned Nikon D70 and you can't think of any way of improving on it

A couple of years ago two of my friends each got an Olympus 2100 digital camera with 10 to 1 zoom and image stabilization. Both of them swear by the camera because of that image stabilization. It allows great photos that would require tripod without the stabilizing. Great for sharp picts and for low level light requiring longer exposures. I have seen some of their picts and they are excellent.

For my next camera, I have been waiting for this feature to come to the SLR digitals with 5 Mega-pixal or more. Cannon released the PowerShot S1 IS a few months ago, which has 10 to 1 zoom and image stabilization, but it only has 3 MP and doesn't use interchangeable lenses.

Do you or anyone here have any idea why this feature hasn't come mainstream to the high MP SLR's yet?

regards,

Steve

Aus - we predicted here the end of flim and we are seeing it. Incredible. I think we might see the end of cameras if QCOM enables 2Mpxl senors and Samsung takes it up. Samsung is a big handset maker and I think I saw they have engineered a proprietory from of flash form for handsets!!!

Best,

L
