Hello Alan,
Paul makes no qualification concerning their expectation. If they are to be reconciled after the ages as you claim, then their hope would be deferred and not absent as he states with those two words: no hope.

Alan - that is not actually what I believe.

You told Stanley that I believe the "first resurrection"
happened at the second coming - that is not what I believe.

I believe the "first resurrection" is spiritual and
equivalent to being born-again PRIOR to physical death.

The second and general resurrection was when Christ returned in 70 AD
after preparing a place in the Father's mansion for those
who had partaken in the first resurrection namely His.

The "rest of the DEAD" are those who did not take part in the
first resurrection (born again) and therefore they are resurrected
unto eternal damnation into the lake of fire with the devil and his angels.

1 Peter 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us
again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

First Resurrection = their (and ours in part) being raised with Christ (through baptism etc.)

Romans 6:4 We were buried therefore with him through
baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised from the
dead through the glory of the Father,
so we also might walk in newness of life.

Colossians 2:12 Buried with him in baptism, wherein also
ye are risen with him through the faith
of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.

These kinds of verses refer to being resurrected with Christ.

Being united with Christ's resurrection through faith prior to
our/their physical death even if they did then died physically as martyrs -
we/they are/were more than conquerors.

1 Peter 2:9 But ye are a chosen generation,
a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people;
that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath
called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:

Called out of darkness or resurrected from the first death in Adam

At the Lord's coming was the SECOND RESURRECTION in 70 AD.

Daniel 12:2 And many of them that sleep in the dust of the
earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to
shame and everlasting contempt.

That is the General Resurrection that was predicted to
happen when the power of the Holy people (Jews) would be broken in 70 AD

Revelation 2:11 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the
Spirit saith unto the churches;(churches of that day- BV)
He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death.

The Second Death is eternal death - which you Alan deny.

All men died in Adam - but ALL who are elect and saved in
Christ - the second Adam (second man from heaven)
are "quickened" or "ressurected" with Him - not a physical
or carnal resurrection as men presuppose.

Revelation 20:6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in
the first resurrection:
(those who were quickened to life and born again in Christ - BV)
on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be
priests of God and of Christ,(Royal Preisthood)
and shall reign with him a thousand years.(thousand years
figurative and applies to period between the cross and the
second coming in 70 AD a "generation")

Revelation 20:14 And death and hell were cast into the
lake of fire. This is the second death.

"death and hell" referring to the holding places of hades
prior to the entry into heaven being made by Christ
the "first begotten of the dead"

Hey if your going to make fun of the heretics at least
learn what we believe :-)

That is my understanding I do not speak for Emile or James or other preterists

I actually do not know what they believe about the "first resurrection"

so where do I get off scolding you - anywhere I want I guess :-)
