Last post on this topic. The terrorists are Islamic Fundamentalists, they are religious nuts, they are a world wide problem. Start by doing some research on the Wahhabi sect of Saudi Arabia. You make them out to be freedom fighters seeking to free their country from colonial rule. Read in history what Christian religious nuts did in the name of Jesus, now we have Islamists doing similar evil acts in the name of Mohammed. Or don't you think killing Russian Christian children is evil. No, I know what you think, George Bush got the CIA to orchestrate the massacre to get the Russians on side with their theft of Iraqi oil. I'd like to LOL, how about COL.

But the US, the British and the Soviet Union have sown seeds for decades that are now bearing fruit. As my dad used to say it is time for everyone to straighten up and fly right. Stephan O Wise One forgets who put Saddam and the Shah in power when it was expedient hoping they would promote the fascist American agendas. Now the Americans have installed a new fascist government in Iraq that the people don't want. The oppression continues. Getting back to Nevsun. I thought it would be a good idea to buy on the bad news but then it occurred to me that with the increasing trouble in the Gulf (Eritrea is a gulf state) it would be best to avoid investing in these companies. So I didn't buy the selloff

Tom no matter what the USSR, USA or anyone else has done, taking children hostage and killing them can never be acceptable or justified. Children are not resposible for the world condition or broken promises, etal. One of the few times you and i disagree. My dad used to say paybacks are hell..... Wayne

OT Tom, I don't usually read the National Post (conservative) in Canada nor the Toronto Star (liberal) because what they are typically completely predictable and Diane Francis is no exception... but I admit I was thinking exactly the same thing after seeing the results of the Russian hostage taking... Reasonable middle of the road folks are just going to stop caring about anyone in Iraq or anywhere and just say wipe them out. Bush either made a major gaff going into Iraq after Afghanistan or it is about geopolitcs and oil more than anything. If he's interested really in the big stick approach on terrorism he should have taken out Saudi Arabia.... the breeding ground. Iraq was just a flea on an elephant's ass when he went in... The whole thing has been pretty predictable if you look at the geopolitics of the area. Russia is once again cut off from access in the Arabian sea... what a chess game... From that perspective Iran would have been a real blunder since they aren't just a paper tiger and the grounds would be even shakier... On the home front I'm much more concerned that our Canadian government is seriously considering allowing Shariah law to gain a toehold in our legal system. Religion mixing with secular law and politics is just wrong headed and dangerous. Interestingly I find myself allied with women's groups on this one. freerepublic.com Jm2cents..
