I am a Republican and former RNC delegate. I’m probably the only former RNC delegate on SI. But why does it matter who tells you the truth?

Bush clearly lied when he said "We've removed an ally of al Qaeda." Under no reasonable definition do we have evidence that Iraq / Saddam was an ally of al Qaeda.

Bush should be held accountable for the mess in Iraq (he is to blame) and the weak economy (he is partially responsible). I guess Bush supporters don't believe in accountability.

The old line Republicans believe in personal responsibility and accountability. We also believe in fiscal responsibility and limited foreign entanglements. IMO Bush is the antithesis of a real Republican.

Bush's big goof is how he went to war. He told the war was necessary at the time which he thought was necessary since "Saddam had WMD and he is about to use it." Saddam was under surveillance for more than 10 years because of the "no fly zone." None of his predecessors thought it was necessary to attack Saddam since they felt he was contained.

Furthermore, every President consults former Presidents before committing young lives to die. That is a sense of responsibility and sensitivity that every President in the past has exercised. Even Bush Sr. consulted with everybody, sent James Baker to meet with the world leaders. After he ordered the troops into Desert Storm, Bush Sr. spent the next hour in the White House Chapel with Rev. Billy Graham. And he did not shout about his faith in God from roof tops as this madman does. This man said that he consulted a "higher Father." Well, excuse me.

He does not care for the lives of our troops. For if he did he would have worked harder to build a alliance like his father did and not a alliance for namesake.
