Oliver Twist etc. I suspect that we are seeing a gigantic and irreversible shift in our society. We are totally incapable of fulfilling the promises for SS/Medicare made to the boomers, so why even try. It's slowly turning into a f-u society. The rich are taking a larger and larger share, and there is increasing callousness towards the disadvantaged. Ultimately this will destroy our social structure. Detroit will be Fallujah, Malibu will be the Green Zone. But not for a few years, so why worry.
