Mish, in case the US cannot control Chen any more, and he is going to declare quasi-independence, and may drag the US into a war with China, do you think this is a bargaining chip?

I never said that.
The bargaining chip was open statement from US supporting China in return for "something".

You make it sound as if the US was proposing war against China by backing Taiwan.

If anything Powell gave the "green light" for China to do what it wants. If I was China I would be thankful for that. Now, what did the US get in return? Nothing?
