Yes, the Russians are very heavy handed in their fight against terrorism. I don't condone that, but I can understand it.

The Chechens want their freedom from Russia. So its okay to terrorize, torture and kill them because they want their independence. That's sick.

I don't think its accurate to call a seccessionist movement in Chechnya terrorism. Russia expanded its borders through imperialism up to WW2, hit a wall in Afghanistan in the 1980s, and then went the other way in the 1990's by dissolving the Soviet Union, and its not exactly clear where the approrpriate "Russian" border lies.
