Jay, such a terrible tragedy. I hope the affected countries can set up a system like ours to help lessen the impact of future tsunamis...

Entire island of Sumatra has moved about 100 feet to the SouthWest.

I am understanding that the waves were not conventional waves, but were miles long and represented a rise in water levels exteneding over minutes.

Excellent first person article by a reporter who was swiming off the beach near Sri Lanka when the water came in....

I, like you love S. E. Asia, (SEA) and I feel sorry for the locals and for the Farangs and Bules who, like us, like to be with them when having free time to spend. Because they are fun, make good food and the girls are pretty and kind.

Last Xmas we spent in Hua Hin which way northern and is inside the Gulf of Thailand like Koh Samui. If we'd be in SEA we most likely would be on the coast since we like Xmas close to the sea. Luckly we were in the southern Atlantic.

But they will rebuild and we Farangs and Bules will go there once again, nature is tough in the edge of a tectonic plate, and there's nothing we can do about it.

Jay, on tsunamis. This one was trivial. A mere warning of what's coming due to tsunami from meteroid/bolide/comet/meteorite/incoming impact on atmosphere and ocean.

Yep, as you say, tsunamis have been well-covered in BBR [The Great Financial Collapse of 2001 - gee, that's a long time ago now, so I suppose the Rapture must be due any time now - it wasn't in October, the last call].
