Elroy, the "secularists" as you call them are trying to maintain the status quo!

That all depends on what your definition of the "status quo" is.

The ACLU suing to get the cross off of the LA County seal is hardly what I call the preservation of the "status quo," for instance. My tax dollars at work.

OK. So what you are saying is that if I have two organizations that help feed Children. One is an atheist organization and the other is Christian. One gives food out and teaches about how God does not exist. The other gives food out and teaches about how faith in God, charity for your neighbor, and helping each other, is God's way.

What you're saying is that our gov't, which has programs to help support these not-for-profits, should only be able to give funds to the atheist organization?

I think that is ridiculous. Why can't gov't funds targeted for charity be given out to any charitable organization, without discriminating against Christian charitable organizations?

It shows that the U.S. roots are deeply religious and those modern secularists, like on this thread, who are trying to destroy this aspect of our culture

What are you talking about?! No one on this thread is trying to destroy any aspect of religion in the USA; rather, the "secularists" as you call them are trying to maintain the status quo!

Any criticism of Christianity or any suggestion that the separation of church and state must be maintained is seen by them as an attempt to destroy the church.

It worries me..........their attack does not make sense and on the surface appears nonsensical. I have the concern that they are trying to do to us what OBL wants to do in Muslim countries......impose fundamentalist religion on all of us. Then and only then do I think they will be happy.
