A lot of walk-in shops are closing their doors and going strictly internet. The net has been a blessing and a curse for the used book business. But definitely a blessing if you're a collector. Used to be you had to submit want lists with various booksellers, and it might take months to hear from anyone. Sometimes you never found the book at all. Now you just punch in title and author on one of the used book sites, and presto! Multiple titles of what used to be a scarce item. Which begs the question - why is it when books are more easily available have they gone up in price? Prices have gone through the roof since the internet. I always thought scarcity dictated price. Maybe the net created a demand that wasn't there before, who knows...
