Winter solstice ceremonies are found in every culture- and in fact the tree is a pagan symbol appropriated by the Christians. So rather than describing the situation as pagans enjoying "Christmas", Christians have actually been enjoying the Pagan celebration of the winter solstice for about 2000 years. Perhaps it's time to Take back the Solstice!

<<Jesus was not born in December.>>

Hence the reason I said this.

<<Christmas is the time that Christians celebrate the birth of Jesus>>

Now as far as the rest of your post goes you simply don't get it. Never is US history have we celebrated the Winter Solstice.

<<Why should atheists not be able to celebrate and get paid for the time off like everyone else?>>

Because they don't believe in a religion which is the very foundation of the time off. If American business operated the way you're suggesting we'd all get EVER religious holiday off regardless of belief and a few New Years as well. That just doesn't work.
