Steve, it's simple. Liberal views on states' rights changes with the wind, but their view of judicial activism doesn't.

- Florida court orders additional recounts to help Gore win? States' rights.

- Supreme Court bans executing of murderers under the age of 18? Federalism.

- Florida court orders the starvation of an invalid? States' rights.

- Supreme Court legalizes abortion based on "unreasonable search and seizure"? Federalism.

- California and Massachusettes courts forcing the legalization of gay marriage based on "equal protection"? States' rights.

No wonder they're fighting tooth-n-nail against Bush's judicial appointees. As long as some judge validates a "liberal" interpretation of the law, they still have influence over society.

So which is it for you liberals, states' rights or not?

Man...can you be more stupid and out of touch? Republican congress just gave the fed courts supervision over a state matter...the prez signed legislation more than 10 years ago as a state governor assigning that jurisdiction to texas, which he just shamelessly contradicted as president...what are you croaking about dimwit?

Steve, as I said before, nothing is black-n-white in the case of Schiavo, but this is especially chilling to me:

story.news.yahoo.com

The smiles and tears are simply neurological reflexes, experts say.

I wonder what makes the difference between real human emotions and simple "neurological reflexes." The notion that her brain turned into liquid, as Amy would argue? Seems like the basis for stopping the care of thousands of patients, especially those in advanced stages of Alzheimer's.
