I was just billed after several months for charges totally covered by my insurance and this insurance is the HOSPITALS INSURANCE PLAN. My wife handles all of this cause she handles insurance on her floor among many other duties and is familiar with most of them. They give her a hard time, then SHE GIVES THEM a hard time and they get the message. The bottom line is their are a lot of dumb ass clerks that work in insurance operations. jdn

I figure it is added to amount of time doctor spends with each patient and billed to our health care providers.

The Kaiser system I use has a keyboard and monitor in every examining room. The Doctors assistant who takes my PB, weight, and updates my meds, enters the info directly. When the Doctor comes in, he sets in the same chair, reviews my charts, and enters everything he does directly. Any prescriptions are entered by him, and I pick them up at the pharmacy.

Sure cuts down the error rate.

By the early 1990's, lawyers were typing their own letters and doing their own input....Yes, they saved money on legal secretaries, but really.....has anyone seen a cut in their legal bills? My bet is NO....But the lawyers don't want us to know that....<g>

When we can talk to computers, and have the computers do the typing for us, then it will start to make sense...some of them are already doing that.

So it goes for computers,, and doctors who sit there inputing all this stuff while you sit and watch.. I wonder how big a pay out there is for a doctor to sit and input data for a processing clerk? I figure it is added to amount of time doctor spends with each patient and billed to our health care providers
