"After spending 3 weeks in NZ, I simply cannot find any legitimate support for what appears to be a very costly standard of living there, with housing being a key factor."

It is a bit of a mystery (and was a big shock 9 years ago when I returned from the US). Maurice will no doubt know the answer (;-); I'll guess that property values have been pushed up by (1) wealthy foreigners of all kinds moving here to live in a house with a sea view, (2) large numbers of mainly Asian students coming here to learn English, (3) quite a few NZers returning from overseas with their loot. Another positive factor in the economy has been high prices for dairy products.

I've been wondering if NZ property values represent a sub-bubble of the big bubbles overseas. Will they all deflate together?

Ramsey, <<Jack>> ... to consolidate names between SI and iHub, and to prepare for any possible public role somewhere

<<PMI>> ... never heard of them

<<NZ>> ... small, and so easier to keep levitated, as compared to California

<<coconut>> ... introducing one new variety of solids per every 4 days, plus formulae, exercise, massage, sunshine, walkies, and music. Erita is also taking to water, flopping in it, drinking it, looking at it, and generally liking it.

She demands quite a bit of time.

Got her a gracobaby.com thing yesterday that took two hours to assemble. She likes it very much, and perhaps one day will like a trading station of same design :0)

Big vacation planned for her 1st birthday in October, a gathering, on remote island, in beautiful setting, surrounded by the clan, as well as some friends with little ones of compatible age, and so hoping the world will not fall apart before then.

Chugs, J
