whether you would sell for a few shillings your homeland, your livelihood

But the Palestinians did sell, freely and for good money. Nobody forced them. Doesn't this show, by your own logic, that nationalistic feeling was not widespread among them?

you evade by bringing up 'nation' and 'nationalism', neither of which appear in the post to which you are responding

"Would you sell your country?"

Would you sell your native land?

If there is no issue of nationalism, there is no issue of losing a nation or a country. There still is the potential issue of losing land that has been part of your family for a long time, or giving up land that belonged to your extended family or clan, or other local group that you feel some affiliation with.

In my personal case selling my small plot of land would only require that I get enough money for it. But than I could easily buy more land elsewhere in the US (within walking distance of my current house if I want to), and I have little or no emotional attachment to my house. Pay me a half million and its yours.

As for the question if I would sell my land if my situation was more like that of the Arabs in Palestine when the Jews began to move in, that would depend on a lot of specific factors. Under certain circumstances I could see myself selling the land, under others I would not sell.
