The founding fathers envisioned a system where local government was where the power was, but they saw one problem with this. A super power like England could easily overwhelm divided local governments. So they created an umbrella for defense, the federal government ie. united states.

Lincoln turned the whole thing on its head by having the federal government dictate the rules to state and local governments. The exact opposite of what was originally envisioned. The progression became that the federal government was no longer serving the dictates of the states. The states were now serving the dictates of the federal government.

The natural progression of this was that in due time the elected leaders were no longer there to serve the people. The people are here to serve the elected leaders and ruling elite which is what it has turned into thanks to Lincoln in no small part.

The real all time worst president of course was Abraham Lincoln.

That is one of the stupidest comments I have ever heard.
Do you support slavery or not?
