I'll bet there is a correlation toward those kinds of events in places like Texas and recruitment trends.

Mike,
I bet you are right.
That begs the question, why wouldn't a patriotic theme work elsewhere in the country?

Did you know the Navy is also down 8 consecutive months? They had been working to get down to 365,900. The latest Navy report (Mar 31) says they are at 365,747. First time in many years, the Navy is understrength at all.

153 men short is not a big deal, but a trend is a trend.
It will be interesting to see if the Navy can now hold their strength with enlistments and reenlistments.

I believe it is totally clueless to expect the Military to cope with the thousands of criminal scum you propose to send it's way.

How much damage was caused by those fools in Iraq taking pictures of their sicko games. Not that they criminals, but clearly stupid and amoral. You would send (tens of) thousands of bad apples into the military and hope there would be a creative way to integrate and rehabilatate them.

What have you been ..........?

I never want any American's life dependent on the life decency of the damage goods you propose to polute it with. The small number scum that already makes it into the military are more than problem enough.
