You can love unconditionally and still want to correct the warts. If my child had warts or defects that could be removed I would remove them, if possible- I would still love my child, but I would not think that keeping them in an unsightly condition was a manifestation of love. Not seeing the warts that are there is called blindness, imo, not love.

If you saw a parent with an unruly child, would you think the parents loved that child if they chose not to correct it? Sometimes love means saying "SHAPE UP", or means you get your loved one the medical attention which they need. It's called helping the one you love- and (imo) it's one of the higher level manifestations of love. Infatuation (and failing to see obvious faults, or any faults) is one of the lowest.

We see that issue in a completely different manner. Isn't that interesting? I'm sure we both think we are right. We may both even BE right, because we want completely different environements to live in, and are comfortable with completely differet ethos.

Dogs make more sense than people do.

I think unconditional love is great for parents to have towards their children, and for dogs and owners to have for each other.

I don't believe unconditional love towards one's country makes any sense at all. I think it is the patriotic duty of citizens to make an outcry when their country's government goes astray. Just because someone holds political power doesn't mean that they are ethical or will be good leaders. It is civil disobedience and protest marches and journalists questioning shady situations that provide some of the checks and balances that make countries strong.

Re your dog who would run away--how old was it when you got him? I have a theory, but need to know that to see if I might be on the right track.
