In many ways the Schiavo matter has wasted many lives, much money, and fixated our country on an issue that really is not as important as other issues we should have been concentrating on, and it was too bad. Cold, callous, misguided. Yes, let's focus on the welfare of animals, that is sooo much nicer. The hell with sick humans. ::shakes head::

I agree that the Schiavo case has been very costly in every sense of the word, but somehow people with various belief systems in our society seem to need to thrash around, working this stuff out. I didn't like the hypocrisy, personally--the part about Bush approving a law when he was governor of Texas that allowed hospital boards to decide to terminate the lives of patients they felt had no chance of recovery, including babies of course, IF the next of kin couldn't continue to pay the medical bills. You've probably already heard that Jeb Bush is somehow taking legal action to investigate a seeming time lag in the time Terri Schiavo was stricken and the 911 call. I only saw the headline and haven't had time to study it, but there is of course the possibility that foul play--sudden foul play, a crime of passion, not a pattern of abuse--may have been present. People just totally lose it all the time. IF her friend who said she was making plans to move into an apartment with Terri can be believed, it is at least remotely possible that Terri confronted her husband with this or similar bad news, and he freaked out. I have no idea, really, but this case is not over, definitely.
