"It is btw not misrepresenting you to say that your position is Pro-abortion or that you are an abortion advocate.."

"It certainly does misrepresent me. I have said repeatedly that I support the RIGHT to abortion. I also support the right to smoke, drink, or take narcotics. It does not mean that I smoke myself or that I support it. Maybe try taking your brain out of idle..."

No body here is under the impression that you are considering an abortion for yourself pal. Perhaps you could offer a clarification over the differences between being an 'abortion advocate' and someone who 'supports the RIGHT to abortion.' Clearly greg sees them as synonymous.

"I have never said the fetus was simply an egg"
Message 21339696

"Egg or fertilized egg--it is all the same in the context of human rights."

"There is nothing disingenuous about it."

No the two are quite different and you know it. I could quote dozens of posts where you call an unborn Human an "egg" without the qualifiers that you only put in because you were challenged. The one I used was only the most recent and still had you using the term inaccurately. Nothing weird about that. If it were merely carelessness on your part that would be one thing but you are being purposefully deceptive by using "egg" to describe unborn Human Beings. You only qualify it when you are forced to out of embarrassment.

"An egg is not a citizen;"

If I ever find someone who says they are I will be sure to point them to you, but since I don't and never have argued such it is a complete Straw Man.

The zygote is not just another part of the Womans body that can be disposed of as you and TP have argued. It was only after I pointed that out that you shifted your argument to;

"As the egg develops through evolutionary phases of fish and reptile it eventually takes on human evolutionary characteristics and develops consciousness."

A weak attempt to further denigrate the Humanity of the unborn. Then came the unborn are not legal persons argument, and finally "eggs are not citizens" where you are now. You did not respond to the fact that the same non person argument was used against Slaves, Woman, Blacks, Jews.... etc etc. I'm not surprised at the non response; I wouldn't want to have to defend that position either.

<<<It is BTW not misrepresenting you to say that your position is Pro-abortion or that you are an abortion advocate"

"It certainly does misrepresent me."

If words only mean what you want them to mean when it's convenient for you, then you are correct, otherwise you are an abortion advocate.

Advocate;
To speak, plead, or argue in favor of. See Synonyms at support.

"I have said repeatedly that I support the RIGHT to abortion.

I rest my case.

<<<Which is it; are they free or obliged>>>

Obviously they are both and your school boy response shows you missed the point, because you previously argued the mother of an unborn could not be.

"Having the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness does not exempt one from the obligation to respect the rights of others."

Exactly! The unborn are "other" than the mother in the same respect as a child on her arm is. On her arm or in her womb she is obligated to "respect the rights of others."

<<<Why do you disparage the science in this matter in favor of a totally arbitrary value judgment?>>>

"The science of logic is not "arbitrary"."

It is when you apply it using arbitrary and false premises. Faulty premise leads inevitably to a false conclusion even if your methodology is impeccable.

"Maybe try taking your brain out of idle...Are you hungry or are you dumb? Please, don't answer. I know the answer. LOL....."

"If you really want to debate this, I suggest you and your lawyer formulate a slightly more forceful opening statement"

I have no idea what you are talking about? Care to explain yourself?

The link is self explanatory. Think of it as if you were looking in a mirror.

I said this: "I believe that abortions ought to be performed earlier rather than later so I find it appropriate to use the words "zygote" or "egg" or "blastocyst".

I wonder how many times you have to post this...
to this "greg's "R" Us" person(s) ? <g>

I believe the numbers war in abortion statistics do show currently 15yr consecutive drop in total number of abortions in the US since reaching a high in 1990 of around 1.4mil, down now to 853k....perhaps some of the sex-education, and birth control availablility & awareness might have something to do with it ? At least a look at some representative numbers does look encouraging for this continuing decrease.

* Abortions performed up to the 15th week of pregnancy have consistently been up around 94% , of the ones performed up to the 8th week constituting 50%+ , and those 9-10 weeks making up for 25% more of total .....11-12th week & 13-15th week each respectively coming in at 10% of total each. While all abortions performed after the 15th week are around 7-8%. Though some here might want to provide different estimates , those percentages seem to have a consistency through the last few decades, with over 90% of all abortions being done before the 15th week.

regards ,

M
