Taking a lower profile and having some places to land our planes and deploy from would be good. I never have liked begging the Saudis for landing rights when problems arise. * * *

I wonder if anyone has ever stopped to think that the Shiites in Iraq, I would think quite friendly to coalition forces, signing a defense pact with Shiites in Iran might be FAVORABLE to us? If shiites wanted to take over Iraq they dont need Iran to do so. they have like 60% of the population with other 40% split between Kurds and Sunnis. Kurds just want to be left alone, they wont come to Sunni help. I am not concerned about Iran and Iraq joining forces or something like that. jdn
