no. Liberal and conservative are ends of a continuum. It happens that currently some groups are grabbing on to one label or the other but it is quite possible, for example, for a Libertarian to be a liberal or a conservative minded individual.

And perhaps it was meant to imply a distance with Bush administration and its supporters, not conservatives in general.

I meant Republicans. (Party affiliation was the most prominent difference between Neo and me, in my observation.) It wasn't that long ago that Republicans had a plank to shut down the education dept. and not much longer ago that they rallied behind states' rights.

There must be a fascinating story behind resurrecting a three year old post, either that or madness.

And yes, risk aversion has become ridiculous when kids can't play on playgrounds.
