What I find interesting is that Bush has avoided every opportunity to pledge his support for Rove, but the spinmeisters are out in force. Now this is puzzling because it is Fitzgerald who has the say here, not the talking heads. So it looks to me as if Rove is being given the opportunity to build support. If he does, then Bush can move to pressure people to get the investigation quashed somehow. If he can't, then out comes the axe...

So far the media seems to be holding steady. Sure, there are puff pieces that totally ignore reality, the law and just about everything that doesn't support Rove, but there still are a lot that aren't buying in. So we will see.

Given the state of the nation, a phrase like "it would take an act of Congress to get Rove off" doesn't have the same air of massive effort for important causes that it used to...
