"How does that relate to the ongoing slaughter of fellow Muslims?"

Because we are westerners we concentrate on the horrific terror bombing in London. What happened in iraq over the past several weeks is an abomination. Sistani is asking the Iraqi authorities to take action against the terrorists. I wonder what a nation can do in the face of determined terrorists when the infrastructure is not there? This may sound dumb but the wild west wasnt tamed until the townies stood up the lawless elements--sherrifs and marshalls were brought in etc. Someone needs to get the iraqi sunnis to stand up for a decent future--on second thought the iraqis have to stand up themselves and put these bad folks down. Time is running out and i hope it will be for the terrorists but at this date it doesnt appear that way at all in Sunniland.

Assuming the 2004 bin Laden tapes are authentic, he says that the mujahideen are attempting to unite the nation in justice and destroy evil, that is, the Americans and the infidel Allawi government.

My guess is that if ordinary Iraqis avoided being anywhere near occupation forces or Iraqi government buildings or employees, they'd be safe from Al Qaeda, not that Al Qaeda is the only danger in Iraq.

To put it in perspective, there are no suicide bombers in Iran.
