I have been f&c for about three years so maybe I am a little too cavalier about the predicaments that other people are getting into. No plans to sell or borrow on my equity. When I took out the mortgage in 1977, I was able to put down 40% of the purchase price of the house and even then the lending officer was a little prickly and dubious, as if he was dealing with a potential deadbeat.

I hope that there is no way that prudent homeowners can be saddled with the consequences of the impatient and foolish extravagance of people who have taken on these impossible obligations. I do think that credit-pushing borders on criminal activity.
