Ok .. you guys are starting to scare me ..

I've been spending time ( too much ) on

peakoil.com
homesteadingtoday.com;

trying to come to some conclusions about PO
and what strategy(s) to employ in an effort
to deal with it ..

Right now I'm in SW Connecticut ie major
suburban sprawl .. But, we do have excellent
rail service ( two stations within 2 miles
of home } so when TSHTF essential goods can arrive
by rail and or barge (ie via Long Island Sound )
should it come to that .. I'm not a 'doomer' but
I do feel that the transition period from fossil fuels
to ( something else ????? ) will be a disruptive
difficult period of unknown duration ..

I also see the merit of heading for a rural area
and trying to adopt/develope a sustainable lifestyle
for energy and food as several participants on the
various web sites I read appear to be doing ..

Hence my dilemma .. stay put or bail ????
What conclusions have you all come to ????

Triff ..

Plastic olive barrels, too.

Got 2 metal drums from a bakery years ago. Meant to use them as heatsinks for a greenhouse, but never filled them up. Turned one into a filter for a drip system filling it with gravel and sand.
