There is a void in music today...

For you, possibly. For the kids, no way.

As for Bob Dylan (who I adore), he is doing Victoria's Secret ads. 'nuf said.

How many times did anyone ask to listen to their father's Frank Sinatra or Bing Crosby albums in the 60's?

Tons. Future legendary "lounge" acts like Scott Walker were cutting their teeth at exactly that time.

There is a void in music today and people like Bob Dylan and Eric Clapton have both recently blasted their country's musicians about the lack of creativity and quality being produced today.

Its even worse than that. I was listening to a pop station yesterday that plays oldies (the only pop radio stations these days HAVE to play oldies because there is no more pop music-top 40 stuff to be had except RAP)- and the DJ was barking about how POP songs of today like recordings by Will Smith are nothing more than rehashes of popular melodies from the 60s and 70s like Sister Sledge and "Killing me softly"!

These guys don't even bother to TRY to make an original tune, they just pick up the background of some 30 year old pop hit and THAT song, the Will Smith remake, then becomes the #2 hit of 2001 or some such.
