Just out of curiousity, what would motivate someone to take part in something like EST?

I did the EST training! In San Francisco at the time, almost everyone I know did it. I thought it was extremely stupid! A total waste of time and money. One of my friends worked for Werner Erhard (the founder of EST, for those of you who don't know), and his involvement really convinced me that it was a cult. My friend's whole job was to stand in Werner's closet and maintain his vast wardrobe! Very strange . . . this is something only a cult figure would create around him.
