Geode, I'm surprised that the revelations in the document
from Downing Street doesn't get more exposure in the press.
The provenance appears to be reliable, with names named
as to how the conversation between Bush and Blair came
to be recorded and leaked. I don't believe the revelations
in the article were picked up by any American newspaper.

That Bush included Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, as countries
that must, at some future point be dealt with, shows that
Iraq was part of a much larger overall strategic and
military objective. That is very chilling.

I think also to say Bush "a nut who is liable to make
any ridiculous remark" speaks volumes...unfortunately
more so about the people who still support him, and this
nation, than about the chief himself. And like you,
I don't understand what the heck has happened with Blair.
Bush and the American right wing have turned him to the
dark side.
