Hello Ed,

I have read nothing of the potential for "demand destruction" out of Fla. if the storm ravages the peninsula. Perhaps you or others might care to address that issue.

If you conclude "bad news" for demand, I would appreciate it if you would just PM me.

Regards

C

Ed, the EIA is aware of the problems, as discussed in “This Week in Petroleum” which was released yesterday. Of course that doesn't mean its going to do anything to bring out more meaningful data.

I posted the link on the CWEI board. Guess I should have posted it here too.

Here are a couple of excerpts……

“First, there are a number of reasons why the demand decline versus last year, as shown in the Weekly Petroleum Status Report (WPSR) , could be overstated.”

“As noted above, EIA surveys, both weekly and monthly, measure how much oil is supplied into the market, not actually how much is consumed.”

Of course, if that refinery had some finished product in its inventory when it shut down then it would seem that there should be little or no lag.

I am quite sure that the refineries were selling finished inventory before the plant came back on stream. You will have to ask Elroy how long it takes for a barrel to go from the crude still to the product tanks. A week seems like a long time to me, but I really don't know.

Best to all,
