Amazing....

Reminds me of Roosevelt the war monger. He started the B17 project in 1934 knowing he intended to go to war in 1941...

I heard Cheneys Iraq speech of September 2002, in which he made it very clear that USA was going to attack Iraq. I was livid because I knew that would be the best recruitment tool for AlQaeda. I presumed that Saddam still had the chemical weapons and I did not perceive that as a big deal. Chemical weapons can be made by practically anyone. AlQaeda has taught its operatives to make explosives and deadly bombs from commonly obtained chemicals.

It was clear to anyone in the fall of 2002 that USA was going to war. Al Gore questioned the Government mindset and pleaded for caution. Unfortunately the rest of the Democrats felt pressured by the upcoming mid term election, asked Gore to keep his mouth shut, and the Congress gave Bush the carte blanc to go to war.The Congress requested that Bush try to seek UN approval, and so Colin Powell presented the flimsy intelligence to the UN. The evidence for the AlQaeda connection, and nuclear weapons was flimsy and speculative. My reaction was that US was overreacting to the intelligence failure of 9/11. Prior to 9/11 the intelligence agencies were accused of blindness in not connecting the dots. However in spring 2002 USA was connecting imaginary dots.

I just learned today that one of the largest military contract firms was preparing to go to war in Iraq, 6 months prior to Congress actually voting the approval of war. Management said they were informed the US was going to go to war in Iraq.

Very nice but if you are to be believed you must post hard facts honey. Like which military contract firm???, and who in management???

Even though I dislike Bush Jr, I honestly thought up until now that he truly must have been mislead about the "weapons of mass destruction" in Iraq (because I couldn't imagine anyone being so dishonest.) However, management said that they were aware the US was going to attack Iraq and that the decision to attack Iraq was actually a bygone decision made prior. It's truly clear that the US Bush/Cheney govt had intended to attack Iraq all along, based upon this information.

Once again "management said", whose management, it would appear to be a figment of your mind.

Given what I learned today,

You have yet to state anything that you learned today.

I think Bush needs to be impeached. I think he might be a dishonest liar - it's either that Bush lied or Cheney lied - it's one of those two that lied. The system needs to find which of those two lied and then eject the one that did. We need to get honestly back into the system - we need our US govt back. The current regime is not the US govt, but a "Bush/Cheney govt" that is not representative of the type of honesty this country should have & display as a leader, as a country.

How can it be that even *I* can get this piece of news information through my connections

Nothing in your post has either a shred of truth or fact about it. If you are to be believed then post facts lady, verifiable facts.

but our judicial system doesn't? What on earth is wrong with our system - shouldn't they be on top of this and be a better watch dog?

Until otherwise proven, your post is just BS State The FACTS.

Given what I learned today, I think Bush needs to be impeached<i/>

I believe we were moving troops around at least six months before we went to war. We do not declare war and then start to build up. i believe the 91 invasion took almost a year to build up troops etc.

impreach based on little knowledge is very dangerous. We do not have the details other than what democrats and republicans told us when they recommended we go to war. Those people work full time on intelligence committee etc. This is bs going on now for next election. Do not swallow it.

Amy,

Re: I just learned today that one of the largest military contract firms was preparing to go to war in Iraq, 6 months prior to Congress actually voting the approval of war.

If INTC was given an order for 1 Trillion chips in 6 months, do you think they could hold off on production and wait until that time? Why is it any surprise that a military contracting firm needed time to plan for such a large operation?

I am amazed you are amazed by this.

Re: Given what I learned today, I think Bush needs to be impeached.

Impeachment for planning?

The other course was more of the same. The status quo in a post 9/11 world is not really an option. Sanctions by the UN which were balked at and ignored 17 times. How many times do you give a guy a chance until you make him stand and be counted? The UN is toothless, and IMO almost worthless.

Saddam also paid off the families of sucide bombers with $25,000.....this is de facto support of terrorism, whether you want to believe it or not.

And I will not even go into the things he did to his own people.

I have issues with the way the war has been conducted, but impeach him???? I think you would be fighting an utterly losing battle.

And just in case you have selective memory, democrats saw the same intelligence and many voted for the war.
