We are taking sly, goede, chris as representatives of the liberal community. They are on the edges. Most dems are as confused as we are by what to do. Schumer on Imus said that three state may be the only way to go. I am yelling for timetables which seemed so radical 6 months ago but now is so conservative given murthas call. The old slogans from 2002 dont work for any of us. They are as foreign to the current predicament as vietnam and korea are. It will take a smart cookie to get us out with the best possible result. mike

<<It seems pretty clear to me the overriding opposition to Bush and his administration is so strong on the left that ... yes, they are willing to be defacto pro-Saddam.>>

No-one is WILLING to be defacto pro-Saddam.....they're pro Saddam in your head because they disagree with this admin's war and your point of view. This is precisely why the current environment is so polarized. This all too common "unpatriotic" or "pro-Saddam" cry is so overused and pathetic at this point. You make some good points for your argument but then you slip a statement like that in and its all for naught!
