just a jukebox

Seems like a great product opportunity to me. Anyone want to start a company to design and make them? (Only half joking).

"The problem I see is user interface."

The TV is the interface. I too will rip all of our music onto the hard drives (I'm thinking of using the Seagate Momentus notebook drives). The whole point about a hi-def TV is that it is eminently suitable as a screen. The user can interact with the whole setup via either a wireless mouse (I have to investigate which ones have long enough range) or from a laptop with remote access.

If you don't want to go this route how about just using a laptop?

You could put the interface for your AV jukebox on a PDA with bluetooth and its also a nice remote. /Petz
