Iraq is going to end up with partisan Islamic rule, at least as long as democratic elections are held. If it reverts to nondemocratic rule, it might become secular again, assuming we can help select the Iraqi Tito.

It certainly has that possibility if we suddenly abdicate our responsibility to wage war against Al Qai'da and Islamo-Fascism.

But until such a time, the "ball is still in play" and we can just as easily see more Iraqi say "enough is enough" and see growing support for Iraqi nationalism.

It would be an effective I/O campaign were this administration to assist in advocating a political campaign that encouraged Iraqis not to be pawns of any nation (including our own), but to join together to create a strong and prosperous Iraq for their OWN benefit.

The sunnis certainly dont make friends by attacking funerals do they. After all those years of saddam/baath/sunni oppression of shiaa, the chickens are now coming home to roost and its the sunnis who have to stop the violence if they want to survive and share in a new iraq. None of us now would be for continuing slavery in 1860 for fear of black ascension to power in certain southern states if they were freed. The situation in iraq will play out over time and 2006 will tell the story i believe. Opressed kurds are secular and sunnis and can hold their nose and deal with the arab sunnis who oppressed them in order to prevent a shiaa theocracy. They can also partner with the shiaa on federalism to prevent another sunni dictatorship. So many possiblities and it aint over until the fat lady sings. mike
