I have heard that GLD was not able to keep up buying enough physical gold, and may be buying or selling futures.

Can you buy physical gold in New Jersey or on Long Island ?

This should be a pdf file of a brouchure from the US mint lisitng frims that selling American Eagle Bullioon coins to the public.

Looks like only 5 in NYC. I expect taxes in NYC mkae this a tough business. I would not be surprised if most of these places have only nominal inventory.

Most of the dealers I buy from offer next day shipping. This one does free overnight

There is also this method. Unlike GLD it's actually your allocated gold and can be turned in for the real stuff not more paper.
