Quote of the day:

"A totalitarian state is one that sticks its nose where it doesn't belong and attempts to intervene in every aspect of its citizens' private lives, and many governments today, whether left, right or center, have developed this practice of behaving like busybodies. The old notion that only dictatorships can be totalitarian seems terribly naïve nowadays."

I agree that abortion is sometimes (often?) a birth control for the "lazy and imprudent." But quite frankly, I'd much rather the lazy and imprudent had abortions (or even better got sterilized) then that they have children.

I guess some people want the lazy and imprudent to breed, because they hate abortion that much. I don't like abortion, but I like the lazy and imprudent even less.

Sex education simply is not telling teenagers very many crucial facts that they don't already know..

The people selling aspirin commercials are not telling people many crucial facts that they don't already know, either. Still, they are spending a lot of money doing it.

But, I agree the ROI in Sex Education is very low.

Maybe they should get some highly paid advertising professionals to design 30 second Sex education ads - making it cool not to get pregnant.

I can see it now - 15 seconds of a vibrant young thing frolicking in sunshine and then 15 seconds of a run down looking unwed mother losing it while getting her hands into soiled diapers.

I wonder if the Super Bowl would be a good place for this ad <gg>

Gloria Steinem was on 60 Minutes last night... or some show I watched.. ( 0 mentality today ) and said that she was not a feminist until she got into a group of women who had all had illegal abortions... She thought that it was so terrible to have to go underground and to risk ones life. That was her gestalt .. and what turned her into a person who worked for women but in a different context... It was the abortion issue that brought her full bloom. She is now 70 years old and looks and speaks with candor, wisdom and I am glad that there was a GS...
